Corn Harvest is HERE!!

Corn harvest is upon us and yields are quite surprising (in a good way)!    After the drought we had in July (17mm or 0.67 inches for the whole month) we were all expecting to have yields under 100 bu/ac.  That being said there are some yields out there under 100 bu/ac but there are a lot  in the 150 bu/ac and even some around the 200 bu/ac range which is AWESOME!!!!!!  Now that the battle of getting soybeans off is finally over its time to get the corn off before the snow flies!!!   The frost free October helped some of the later planted corn make it to maturity and some of the longer season variety’s planted early make it to maturity.   P9910XR (a high yielding 2950 CHU variety) was planted outside of Bloomingdale & Guelph in early May and is coming off at 25% moisture and yielding between 150-200 bu/ac which GREAT considering the year we had.  Keep the combine rolling , and be safe out there!!!.   Below are some pictures I took of corn harvest, and a strange new Super Hero…Captain Pioneer!! Defender of High Yields!!!!
